In Waynne’s early years, he worked for plywood mills up and down the I-5 corridor. In the mid 60’s, he moved to Washington State and started his career as a home builder, planning his own designs, and specializing in unique octagon homes in the Pierce County area. His generous nature included affordable remodeling and updating for local residents. In his later years, he continued to shop at Habitat for Humanity to repurpose construction materials and keep his brain busy while struggling with Alzheimer’s. His projects included bird houses and picture frames, documenting his personal family history through photographs and paintings.
In apprenticing his craft, many up-and-coming individuals were privileged to learn from Waynne and many went on to have successful careers.
In lieu of flowers, Waynne's family appreciates donations to Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity in celebration of a life well lived.
With your support, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity helps hardworking families move from survival to sustainability through affordable homeownership.
The road hasn’t always been easy for Habitat families but, with a hand-up from you, children have a safe place to play, homeowners have the financial tools they need to succeed, and hope flourishes.
