Take up this new challenge from Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity and you and your teammates will be in the wackiest, most memorable race of your life. Beyond the Backyard is part scavenger hunt and part double-dog-dare. You may get wet, you may get a little dirty, and you will definitely laugh.
The four pillars of Beyond the Backyard are Physical; Find; Skill; and Fun. These are also the challenge categories your team will be working through when you explore Pierce County in a whole new way. In total, there are 24 challenges for your team to unlock using your collective fundraising power to benefit Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity.
Suited for all ages and stages, this quest is made for athletes and fun-seekers of all ability levels.
The challenges are custom-created for Beyond the Backyard, in compliance with all local, pandemic regulations.
Your donation not only allows our competitors to unlock challenges and race to the fullest, but every gift supports Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity and helps open the door to affordable homeownership for local families and individuals.
What about COVID-19?
The health of the community is our utmost priority. Challenges are created to align with our state's pandemic regulations. There is no communal starting line and no one location where checkered flags mark the end of the race. One of the goals in designing this event is leaving it flexible enough so everyone can participate – no matter their risk factors or reservations about exposure.
Can kids participate?
Absolutely! Kiddos are universally welcome to join the adventure! Please note that kids age 10+ must be registered members of your team. Kids and tots under 10 - even if they're in strollers or wraps - are able to participate, but unless registered won't get an event t-shirt or be able to login to the race app.
What if we aren't comfortable with a challenge?
Teams are never forced to do anything they don't want to or can't physically complete. You can skip around to create your own unique combination of experiences throughout the event.
