I am signed up to step off the roof of the Hotel Murano on Friday, August 27, 2021 and rappel the 245' to the ground - all to raise money for Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity. But in order to get to the roof, I need to raise $1,000 and hope you will consider a gift of support.
In the last year, we've come to really appreciate all our homes can be - offices and schoolrooms, movie theaters and play spaces. So much more than simple shelter, a stable home is the first defense in keeping families safe and healthy. That's why I am excited to support Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity through the Habitat Challenge and help raise much-needed funds for their affordable homeownership and foreclosure prevention programs.
Will you support me with a gift to benefit Habitat's work here in Pierce County?
The Habitat Challenge is a thrilling fundraising event in which participants rappel 245' down the face of Tacoma's second tallest building in order to raise funds for Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity. Some might call participation in this daring event “crazy” but at Habitat for Humanity, we know our Edgers are not only brave but compassionate.
All the rappels are managed by our partners, Over the Edge, an international adventure experience company. The Over the Edge event team of experts are certified professionals who provide all the necessary technical expertise, training, and equipment needed to assist Edgers the entire way down. Over the Edge has successfully managed over 1,000 rappelling events at 360 buildings, safely guiding more than 75,000 Edgers back to solid ground.
Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity has been providing the opportunity of affordable homeownership to modest-income families for more than 30 years, partnering with families who too often make difficult choices between paying rent or providing for daily life and emergent needs. Over the past year, we have expanded programming to include foreclosure prevention, with HUD-certified housing counselling, and critical home repair for senior citizens. Our CEO often refers to a Habitat as a hometown miracle and she isn’t wrong. We exist because we care deeply about the people in our community. We believe everyone deserves a safe, affordable home.
